
This project will investigate high school GPA (HSGPA) grade inflation from 2004 to the present by first replicating the work of Woodruff and Ziomek (2004). The study will also examine the effects of HSGPA grade inflation on postsecondary outcomes (e.g. college enrollment, persistence to the second year, and degree completion).
Under the guidance and direction of Statistical Research Department staff, the intern will be required to extract necessary data from internal databases, perform the analyses, write a report, and present findings. The intern will also be required to attend seminars and communicate ideas and progress on a continuous basis. Essential skills include: SAS programming, hierarchical modeling in SAS or HLM 6.0, descriptive statistics, report creation, and presentation skills.
To qualify, candidates must be a graduate student currently enrolled in measurement, statistics, educational and/or quantitative psychology or related program. Knowledge and experience with SAS programming, hierarchical modeling, and good professional writing skills, are preferred. Finalist(s) for this position will be subject to a pre-employment criminal background check as a condition of employment.
