In collaboration with a supervisor, the summer intern will participate in a research project which examines the relationships between the attributes of colleges and their selection into students’ college consideration sets (defined as the institutions to which students submit their test scores). The purpose of this project is to better understand the college-attribute preferences of students during the college search process and how these preferences differ by the demographic, socioeconomic and academic backgrounds of students.
Typical job related activities include: using advanced statistical modeling of choice sets to estimate models of the relationship between college attributes (e.g., control, level, selectivity, size, distance) and the rank order of institutions in the students’ college consideration sets.
To qualify, candidates must be doctoral students currently enrolled in educational studies (higher education or K-12) or relevant social science programs. Knowledge and research experience in the study of the college choice process, an understanding of the conditional logit model, and experience with SAS or Stata is preferred. Finalist(s) for this position will be subject to a pre-employment criminal background check as a condition of employment.
