
College achievement gaps exist among subgroups of students with the same pre-college achievement levels. This project will examine changes (patterns) in these college achievement gaps for the low-income, racial/ethnic minority and male students over the last 10 years.
The intern will participate in analyses of ACT test scores and college grades data obtained from the ACT data repository. Under the guidance and directions of the supervisors, the intern will be required to extract necessary data, perform the analyses, present findings, and write a report. The intern will also be required to communicate ideas and progress throughout the project.
To qualify, candidates must be a graduate student with a sufficient background in the theory of statistics and knowledge of multilevel (hierarchical) or longitudinal data modeling, proficiency in SAS or R programming, the ability to reason quantitatively and qualitatively, experience writing papers/reports, the ability to clearly communicate ideas and work in a group, and the ability to work with confidential information and maintain security. The finalist(s) for this position will be subject to a pre-employment criminal background check as a condition of employment.
