POSITION: Title I Summer School Teacher Grant-Funded INTERNAL APPLICANTS ONLY

(temporary/hourly assignment – eligible for job sharing)

SALARY: The salary for this temp/hourly position is $40/per hour.

REPORTS TO: Title I Summer School Lead Teacher

LOCATION: Lexington Park Elementary School

EFFECTIVE: July 2024

NATURE OF WORK:

The teacher will work under the direction of the SMCPS Title I Summer School Lead Teacher. The teacher will provide developmentally appropriate instruction with evidence-based materials and research verified programs in language and literacy, mathematical thinking, social foundations, and physical development and well-being. Lead Teacher. . Teachers will communicate with families, conduct an end-of-program assessment, and prepare student reports.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Small group instruction and assessment;
  • Parent communication; and
  • Maintaining programming documentation.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Collaborate with Title I Summer School Lead Teacher, teachers, para-educators, and other hourly staff to identify student instructional needs. Maintain required documentation, to include lesson plans and student data.
  • Implement the program with fidelity;
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues including co-teachers and paraeducators under the direction of the Lead Teacher and instructional Coordinator to develop purposeful developmentally appropriate instruction;
  • Prepare appropriate learning activities for identified students;
  • Monitor and evaluate the progress of each student;
  • Maintain student progress records and submit required reports in a timely manner;
  • Maintain communication with the parents of students in summer school;
  • Attend, as necessary, workshops and in-service planning sessions;
  • Supervise weekly field trips; and
  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Possess a professional certificate in early childhood and/or elementary education in the state of Maryland and meet certification standards;
  • Possession of a related degree can be considered including but not limited to: Special Education, ESOL, Media Specialist, etc.
  • Demonstrates successful teaching experience; and
  • Title I school experience preferred.

TERM OF EMPLOYMENT:

Temporary/hourly position. Summer School is in session from July 8, 2024, through August 1, 2024. Four weeks, Monday – Thursday, Seven hours per day. Job sharing can be considered.

  • Four days of additional planning/preparation, closure, prior to July 8, 2024, and/or after August 1, 2024. Some flexibility is available for planning, preparation, closure assessment, and evaluation prior to July 8, 2024, and/or after August 1, 2024, to accommodate individual needs.
  • Some flexibility is available for planning, preparation, and closure activities to accommodate individual needs.

SALARY GRADE RANGE: This is a temporary/hourly position of $40.00 per hour.

BARGAINING UNIT ELIGIBILITY: Not Eligible
