JOB SUMMARY

We are seeking a Management Engineer to support the following performance management and improvement services for Duke University’s Department of Medicine and its endeavors with the Duke Health Integrated Practice, Duke University Hospital, Duke Health Raleigh Hospital, Durham Regional Hospital and other entities within the Duke University Health System improvement. This position would consist of multiple job levels with varying levels of autonomy, accountability and interaction within the organization. This position, among other related tasks as assigned, will: 1) interpret data and develop recommendations based on findings, 2) synthesize data analysis into clear, relevant, and visually appealing materials by developing graphs, reports, and presentations of results in order to make strategic and programmatic decisions and 3) intelligently and creatively present data in a way that can be easily and quickly grasped by external stakeholders.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Operational Support: Support of Departmental leadership with project management and analytical support of operational initiatives.
  • Decision Support and Performance Reporting: Development and initiation of clinical analyses in support of Departmental leadership to improve the management and quality of care. Coordinate the improvement process as appropriate. Ongoing decision support in support of clinical and patient safety improvement efforts. Provide routine reporting of key quality and patient safety metrics in support of the ongoing quality management process.
  • Patient Satisfaction: Coordination and support of the improvement efforts designed to improve the overall patient satisfaction scores as appropriate.
  • Performance Improvement: Lead performance improvement teams as assigned. Support performance improvement teams within the Department of Medicine. This could include being an active team member or provide analytical support.
  • Management Engineering: Development and maintenance of labor standards used to develop departmental staffing requirements. Support Departmental leadership with productivity improvement efforts to include analyses of department divisions and processes. Perform labor variance analyses in cooperation with departmental leadership to support their efforts in meeting defined productivity goals.

JOB ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering or related field. Master's degree desired.

  • Minimum of 2 years of related experience. Experience can be supplemented with Master's degree with a Master’s degree being equivalent to two year of experience.

JOB HOURS

The schedule for this position is day shifts, Monday-Friday, with no weekends or holidays.
