The Harrisburg School District is seeking qualified candidates for a collaborative, dynamic, student-focused school principal to open a new K – 5 elementary school, Steele Elementary, in the Harrisburg School District.
Steele, located at 2537 N. Fifth Street in Harrisburg, PA, was closed in 2011, is being completely renovated and will reopen in August 2024. It will have the capacity for nearly 400 students from the Uptown section of the City, with roughly 18 classroom teachers. A new principal should be ready to assume this leadership role in June, with appointment in March.
Harrisburg is searching for a principal with extensive elementary leadership experience, who will prioritize relationships that focus on developing students’ academic and personal skills. We are seeking a candidate with a demonstrated record of fostering a supportive and positive climate for both students and staff.
Qualifications for this position include an active Pennsylvania Principal Certification. Additionally, the successful candidate must be able to demonstrate: strong communication and organizational skills; critical thinking skills to make informed decisions regarding instruction and to enhance student growth; experience with at-risk student populations; success in fostering a climate that values the input of others; knowledge and implementation of best practices in instruction and assessment strategies; effective utilization of teacher observation, mentoring, and evaluation processes.

Salary Range/Benefits: In accordance with the Act 93 Agreement - starting at $102,510/yr based on experience; EOE
