Salary Range: $50,248 - $60,299

Essential Functions and Objectives:

Responsible for the coordination of leave of absence and benefit administrative duties for Human Resources. Will administer and coordinate with assigned schools/departments in the areas of leaves of absence.

- Determines employee eligibility for general, FMLA and Military leave requests and processes all related requests based on State, Federal, Bargaining Unit provisions and district policy; ensures accurate leave and employment status information is recorded in HR systems in a timely manner.

- Reviews disability, death and time off work cases for handling and ensuring application of Federal and State regulations as required.

- Responds to general questions from employees and managers regarding leave of absence policies and requirements; communicates regularly with employees and managers regarding begin leave and return to work information and pay and benefits status while on leave.

- Acts as liaison with HR Partners, Benefits or Payroll to research and resolve issues related to leave status, pay or benefits while on leave; acts as liaison with Public Employees Retirement Association (PERA) and The Standard for accurate reporting of paid/unpaid time while on leave for pension purposes and short or long term disability.

- Provides short or long term disability enrollment forms to employees expected to be eligible for such benefits.

- Collaborates with employee relations and legal for guidance on approval or rejection of leave of absences as needed; complies with Federal and State laws and regulations and adheres to bargaining unit terms and conditions.

- Responds to payroll department inquiries to ensure correct payment for employees during leave status.

- Coordinates with ADA specialists when accommodation is requested on extended leaves.

- Maintains quality standards through case and call monitoring, transaction audits and other quality control processes providing regular feedback/coaching to HR Call Center Reps.

- Provides exceptional customer service to all customers and stakeholders; reviews and verifies incoming and outgoing documentation for completeness, accuracy and compliance with established policies and procedures and supports continuous improvement initiatives.

- Serves as a backup for co-workers and/or other key business processes, as needed.


Knowledge, Experience & Other Qualifications:

- Two (2) or more years experience in Human Resources.

- Experience in a union environment and exposure to collective bargaining agreements helpful

- Knowledge with Microsoft Office/Google products including Word, Excel, Outlook, Google Docs. Google Sheets, Google Slides.

- Effective time management and organizational skills.

- Effective communication skills.

- Strong attention to detail.

- Effectively handle multiple demands and competing deadlines.

- The ability to take responsibility for one’s own performance.

- Work collaboratively with others on a team.

- High degree of integrity in handling confidential information.

- Ability to communicate diplomatically and persuasively through effective verbal and written skills.

- Ability to work independently as well as collaborate with other departments.

- Knowledge of Federal and State employment laws and FMLA guidelines.

- Knowledge of Infor (Lawson) Global Human Resources and Workforce Software


Education Requirements:

- High school diploma or equivalent required.
