Job Description:

Accounting Clerk 
Center for Education Services
Grade 8 of the ESP Salary Scale (New Employee Starting Wage $17.98)
7.5 Hours/Day, 12-Month Work Year
 
Minimum Requirements
Holds High school diploma/GED.
Has two years’ practical experience in accounts payable.
Has knowledge of bookkeeping/accounting principles and practices.
Has the ability to understand and apply established policies and procedures for the payment of invoices and other requests for payment.
Has the ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with vendors and WCPS staff.
Has the ability to operate desktop calculator and computer.
Has demonstrated experience and skill in a variety of relevant software and electronic communication tools, including Outlook, Word and Excel.
Has willingness to cross-train for other duties including payroll, accounts receivable, grant reporting, etc.
Have regular and predictable attendance which is an essential function of this position.
Has the ability to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodations.
 
Preferred Qualifications
Holds AA degree in accounting or business administration.
Has experience with a purchase order environment and/or construction industry. 
Has experience with large or complex organizations and account structures.
Has experience in tracking and accounting for fixed assets.
 
Role Responsibilities
Process invoices and expenses of the school system promptly and efficiently, using purchase order system when applicable.
Performs tasks to assure that funds expended have been properly documented and approved according to existing policies and the application of sound business practices.
Tag fixed assets located at all schools and other facilities.
Records fixed asset transactions, produces reports and works with auditors.
Performs tasks to assure that proper procedures have been followed resulting in timely and accurate payment of vendors and employees.
Demonstrate courteous and professional treatment of all stakeholders of Washington County Public Schools.
Performs any other duties as assigned by the Executive Director of Finance, or his/her designee.
