Job Description:

VCU Health System's Psychiatry department is seeking a full time Behavioral Health Counselor to provide direct clinical care in an outpatient substance abuse clinic setting by (1) providing individualized, patient-centered assessment and treatment; (2) provision of cognitive, behavioral substance use disorder-focused psychotherapies on an individual, group, or family basis; (3) monitoring individual treatment plans; and (4) provision of care coordination and interdisciplinary care planning including linking patients to community resources, including behavioral health, medical and social services.

Responsibilities

Must be able to evaluate clinic outpatient, formulate an accurate differential diagnosis, and develop and implement an appropriate course of treatment.


Qualifications

Required

Master's or Doctoral level education in the field of psychology, social work, counseling or nursing from an accredited program

Current Virginia license as a Professional Counselor, Clinical Psychologist, Clinical Social Worker or Clinical Nurse Specialist

Minimum of three (3) years post licensure experience providing initial psychiatric evaluations and psychotherapy in an outpatient setting


Preferred

One (1) year of previous experience providing addiction treatment services

Previous experience providing therapeutic services for individuals receiving medication assisted treatment for addiction
