Job Description:

VCU Health System's Plastic Surgery department is seeking a full time experienced Nurse Program Coordinator. This person coordinates activities and functions of a designated program to ensure that goals and objectives specified to the program are accomplished in accordance with established priorities, time limitations or other specifications. This job is intended for positions with incumbents that have responsibility for a particular program. A program provides a specific service or carries out specific activities as a component program within a department.

*** This position will support the PEDIATRIC CRANIOFACIAL PROGRAM. Our center for craniofacial care specialized in treating children with cleft lip and pallate, craniofacial conditions and vascular malformationes/birthmarks.

Responsibilities

Practices within the boundaries of the regulations governig the practice of nursing in the Commonwealth of Virginia. Practice is guided by the ANA Code of Ethics for Nursing and established nursing practice standards and follows the VCUHS policies and procedures. Organizes and plans work with input from the patient/family or other stakeholders with specific defined outcomes and demonstrates use of sound clinical judgement and resources. Supervises assigned subordinates. Schedules, including requirements of shift rotations and hours of work may be adjusted as necessary to meet program requirements and/or needs.

Qualifications

Required

Current RN licensure in Virginia or current speech/language pathology certification and licensure.

AHA BLS HCP certification or equivalent.

Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing from an accredited School of Nursing.

Minimum of five (5) years of clinical nursing or craniofacial/medical/feeding speech language pathology experience with at least one (1) year in a progressive leadership or supervisory role.

Preferred

Previous experience in staff education and professional development (orientation, preceptorship, in-services education, etc.).

Previous experience in an academic healthcare setting.

Experience with similar patient population in either an acute care setting or as applicable to area of practice.

Completion of a Master's Degree in Nursing or Speech/Language Pathology. Certification in specialty area.
