General Statement of Duties

Provides technical, administrative and customer service support to Human Services Specialists and Senior Human Services Specialists in the paperwork and process of determining eligibility of applicants for assistance; does related work as required.
Essential Duties
The case aide is responsible for assisting in the day-to-day tasks to ensure that case management services in benefits programs are provided in a timely, effective manner. The case aide is required to maintain a flexible, organized and efficient work schedule and is subject to work extended hours and possibly weekends. Employees in this role must exercise independent judgement, discretion, and initiative in completing assignments as well as considerable tact, courtesy, and discretion with program participants, families, children, and the general public.
- Office-based responsibilities:
- Assist clients in completing forms and applications for benefits.
- Contacts clients for requested/needed information and responds to routine questions in person, e-mail or by telephone
- Refer clients to appropriate social services and resources.
- Works in various systems & databases to conduct searches for information for initial applications, renewals, and re-certification and/or update information for the agency’s SNAP, Medicaid, TANF, childcare, energy assistance, PIPP, cooling assistance, heating assistance, and crisis assistance programs.
- Performs clerical duties such as scheduling appointments, creating and mailing letters, managing reports and scanning/uploading information to client electronic files.
- Supports case management activities by maintaining accurate records & documentation
- Attends trainings and unit and department meetings as required.
- Participate in community events to share information about public benefits programs and facilitate applications and process case-related paperwork.
- Performs other related duties as required.
Minimum Qualifications
Graduation from high school and four (4) years of related administrative support/customer service work experience, preferably including at least one (1) year in a human services or related environment; OR, any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
