Occupational Summary

Our research focuses on identifying cellular and molecular mechanisms of immunosuppression and EGFR-targeted immunotoxin-mediated antitumor response in animal models of brain tumors. We aim to translate our preclinical findings to improve patient outcomes. Our work is funded by federal and foundation grants.

We seek a highly motivated candidate for a Research Technician II position to support mice colony management, flow cytometry, and immunohistochemistry research utilizing animal models. The position allows candidates to build their preclinical laboratory skills. The candidate will work alongside a talented team of researchers under the supervision of the principal investigator.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Perform laboratory animal handling, maintain breeding colonies, perform daily monitoring of the animal rooms, monitor study mice, collect bodyweight measurement data from animal studies, and assist lab members during animal surgery.
  • Prepare mouse tissue and specimens for immunohistochemistry procedures and perform tissue digestion and cell isolation for flow cytometry assays.
  • Perform regular quality control for various instruments in the lab and alert principle investigator of any issues.
  • Compile and document experimental results. Confer with the principal investigator to review work assignments and develop plans to meet the needs of the particular experiment as required.
  • Maintain records and documentation of sample acquisitions and all work performed in an organized laboratory notebook and an institutional database.
  • Communicate and present results to the principal investigator and other team members.
  • Prepare and maintain reagents, buffers, and media for the procedures described above.
  • Clean and sterilize glassware. Discard autoclaved materials.
  • Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in biochemistry, molecular biology, immunology, biological sciences, or another directly related scientific field.
  • A minimum of 1-2 years of laboratory experience is preferred.
  • Experience working with mouse models is a plus.
  • Ability to work as a part of a collaborative research team.
  • Good oral & written English communication skills preferred.
  • Authorized to work in the US.
