Elm Creative Arts School encourages active family involvement and emphasizes the strength of its activities and programs. Fine arts are integrated into the academic areas. High academic achievement and behavioral standards promote creativity and self-expression. The school offers art and music coursework taught by specialist teachers. Close partnerships with Arts @ Large, Danceworks, and Discovery World provide students with additional art and dance experiences throughout the school year. Elm feeds students to excellent middle school options: Roosevelt Middle School and Lincoln Center of the Arts.

Salary Range: $78,556 - $113,170

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Education or a related field
  • Must be a professional educator with a minimum of three (3) years of successful experience a fully-licensed teacher.
  • Must have experience as an administrator/supervisor, APIC, Assistant Principal, Emerging Leader, Aspiring Principal, Teacher Leader (Coach, Implementer, Mentor, Building Representative or Program Coordinator) or any other leadership role within the building
  • Valid Wisconsin Administrator's License (#51)
    • NOTE: Applicants that do not currently hold this license or have not completed a certification program awarding this license, may still qualify for the position if they enroll in and complete a certification program awarding the #51 Administrators License within 2 years. Until you complete the certification program, the District will request the license on your behalf upon appointment to the position for a maximum of two years.

Responsibilities

  • Provides a nurturing school environment, rigorous curriculum and high standards.
  • Assumes responsibility for activities delegated by the Principal, which can include athletics, safety, special education, governance council, PBIS, learning teams, professional development, enrollment and programming, among others.
  • Assists and oversees staff in promoting academic excellence for all students. Coordinates academic programs and assessments with other administrators and staff to include guidance counselors, curriculum generalists and department chairpersons.
  • Participates in the observation and evaluation of teacher’s performance and the performance of other staff members as assigned. Conducts administrative conferences with school staff and prepares disciplinary notices as necessary.
  • Coordinates, supervises and provides leadership in the school’s program of pupil control and discipline, including investigating incidents caused by students and others and settling related problems as appropriate ranging from counseling students up to and including expulsion; requesting assistance by resource personnel as necessary.
  • Ensures all disciplinary paperwork is processed according to regulations and established deadlines. Completes written reports, investigations and maintains all appropriate documentation.
  • Engages students in significant learning activities that provide them with opportunity to apply their learning in meaningful contexts that call for explanation, decision making, investigation, interpretation, problem solving and self assessment.
  • Commits to developing socially conscious students who can adapt and contribute to an ever- changing society through the acquisition of knowledge and the mastery of skills.
  • Assists the Principal with Teacher orientation and professional development and in service training for areas of responsibility.
  • Participates in special events and evening activities (graduation exercises, conferences, Honor Day Program, dances etc.) as requested by the Principal.
  • Guides new students to the school by assisting with enrollment, evaluating transcripts and establishing a schedule to meet the needs of students.
  • Coordinates activities for the parents to encourage active participation in the education of the students.
  • Participates in the school budgeting process.
  • Actively supports the MPS Strategic Plan.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
