The Duke Center on Risk and the Duke RESILE Initiative seeks a Staff Assistant to work jointly with both the Duke Center on Risk and Duke RESILE. The Staff Assistant will play a pivotal role in coordinating and executing events, managing communications, and providing essential administrative support on behalf of the two organizations. This full-time position offers a flexible blend of remote, and in-person work opportunities. Ideal candidates will have a background or experience in communications and/or administration and an interest in climate change policy.

Responsibilities:

1. Event Management:

- Coordinate and execute logistics for climate-related events, workshops, and conferences.

- Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure seamless event execution.

2. Communications:

- Assist in the development and dissemination of communication materials.

- Manage social media accounts and Center websites to engage with target audiences on climate-related topics.

3. Scheduling:

- Coordinate and manage calendars for key personnel involved in climate initiatives.

- Schedule meetings, appointments, and video conferences.

4. Procurement:

- Facilitate procurement processes for necessary supplies and services.

- Ensure compliance with relevant purchasing policies and procedures.

5. General Administrative Support:

- Provide administrative support to climate research initiatives and center operations.

- Handle routine tasks such as filing, data entry, and document preparation.

6. Other:

Minimum Qualifications

Education

Work requires a broad knowledge of clerical and accounting principles and practices normally acquired through two years of post-secondary education in administrative support or a related business field.

Experience

Work generally requires two years of related secretarial/clerical OR AN EQUIVALENT COMBINATION OF RELEVANT EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE activities. experience to acquire skills necessary to administer office functions related to office management, communications, and budgetary/accounting
