POSITION TITLE: Health/Physical Education/Wrestling Coach
DEPARTMENT: Teaching & Learning
WORK DAYS: 190 Days
REPORTS TO: Principal and/or other authorized administrators
PAY SCALE: Based on experience and certification
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Demonstrates prompt and regular attendance.
- Provides instruction that is appropriate to the standards of the courses being taught.
- Exhibits professionalism in all job-related situations; follows professional ethics in all work-related activities; presents a personal appearance that enhances the image of the school.
- Assumes a fair share of outside-the-classroom school responsibilities and coaching duties.
- Adheres to local school procedures and regulations in a supportive manner; demonstrates loyalty to the school and its leadership; avoids behavior that detracts from staff morale; works cooperatively with colleagues and the community; helps maintain a positive, cooperative climate.
- Promotes a positive school environment that enhances student learning.
- Maintains plans according to policies and/or directives.
- Promotes the responsible use of materials and equipment.
- Submits accurate paperwork on schedule.
- Maintains required work schedules in a punctual manner; demonstrates responsible attendance and use of leave.

- Participates in system athletic meetings as needed.
- Acts as a liaison between all varsity coaches and system athletic directors.
- Distributes athletic information as needed to include tryouts, practice schedules and cancellations, ticket sales, varsity coach visits, etc.
- Athletic physicals: Communicates dates, assists with paperwork distribution and collection, and assists with an actual trip to to take athletes for physicals.
- Middle school athletes: Assists with the organization of participating students, afternoon transportation supervision, and communication with coaches on attendance.
- Communicates with coaches and system directors on potential athletes.
- Wrestling Coach for Rome High School. Collaborates with coaches and system directors to develop programs and activities to develop athletic programs in RCS.
- Develops intramural athletic opportunities at the elementary level.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the appropriate administrator.

Certification/License Required:
- Valid Georgia Teaching Certificate or Meets eligibility requirements for a Georgia Induction Certificate.
Skills:
- Acceptable criminal background check.
- Ability to perform routine physical activities that are required to fulfill job responsibilities.
- Professional written and oral communication skills.
The Board of Education and the Superintendent may accept alternatives to some of the above requirements.
