Position Summary/Purpose:
Physical therapy positions are itinerant; therapists travel to multiple assigned school sites for the provision of physical therapy services.
A Physical Therapist (PT) evaluates student performance in areas such as gross motor, mobility, balance, motor coordination, daily living and vocational skills. The PT documents evaluation results, establishes functional goals and develops intervention plans. In collaboration with others, the PT implements physical therapy services in accordance with each student's individual Education Plan or 504 Plan. The PT provides training to classroom staff members as needed and engages in ongoing assessment of student progress.

Qualifications
Education Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree or higher in Physical Therapy
- Current Physical Therapist license issued by the State of Wisconsin Department of Regulation and Licensing
- Current Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction-Pupil Services License #1817 (#817), Physical Therapy, or be eligible to obtain this license within 60 days from hire
Responsibilities
Essential Functions/Core Competencies:
Provision of Physical Therapy Services to students suspected of having a disability, students with an IEP and/or students with a 504 Plan: (75%):
- Evaluation and ongoing assessment
- Development of measurable, meaningful and functional goals
- Establish intervention plans
- Document student progress
- Consider Assistive Technology
- Develop Home Program
- Adapt/modify curriculum and tools for the classroom and/or worksite
- Instruct/train others in the use of specialized equipment and/or techniques
- Collaborate with other members of the educational team, including parents
Provide general information and staff development on the topics such as early development, transfers and lifting or use of adapting equipment (15%)
Participate in departmental meetings and staff development opportunities (5%)
Use computer-based software to maintain documentation requirements (5%)
Pay, Benefits, & Work Schedule
The salary range for a Physical Therapist starts at $60,793.63 and increases according to a set salary schedule which is based on year's of work experience as a fully licensed school Physical Therapist.
This position is scheduled as a 10-month/191 work day during the school year.
