$5,000 Commitment Bonus Eligible | Paid out in 2 equal installments over 12 months in 6-month increments (6 months and 12 months).

JOB SUMMARY:

We are seeking a nurse to be a vaccine coordinator at our Duke Children’s and Internal Medicine North Durham Location. This position is responsible for all aspects of vaccine administration and vaccine inventory for a clinic that gives approximately 25,000-28,000 vaccines to more than 10,000 patients annually.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ordering and inventory control of vaccines including tracking usage, waste, and administration in the North Carolina Immunization Registry and Epic systems to accurately reflect vaccine usage.
  • Maintain weekly and monthly equipment maintenance for vaccine appliances including temperature checks, data logger management, stock rotation, and vaccine organization.
  • Evaluate weekly inventory counts, run data reports, and verify and track documentation and administration errors.
  • Responsible for training and giving new staff access to NCIR and vaccine systems, entering external vaccine records into Epic and NCIR, and answering questions regarding vaccine discrepancies that occur in clinic.
  • Develop and maintain updated administration policies and materials necessary for vaccine administration, such as pre-order documents, vaccine information sheets for patient use in Epic and exam rooms, vaccine consent forms, and orientation documents for new hires.
  • Run benchmark reports and update patient’s immunization status. Will call patients that are delinquent and get them scheduled for vaccine appointments.
  • Maintains all necessary logs and reports necessary for clinic audits.
  • Support the development of other clinical staff by educating in monthly meetings, and as needed, on vaccine updates and best practices
  • Participate in the identification of clinical, operational and safety related performance improvement opportunities.

JOB ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:

  • Graduation from an accredited Practical Nurse program is required.
  • Current State of North Carolina LPN licensure and BLS Certification are required.

JOB HOURS:

Day Shift with no evenings or Duke Health scheduled holidays
