General Statement of Duties
GENERAL POSTING
This general posting is for applicants interested in teaching middle school science courses to include physical science, life science, and earth science for the 2025-2026 school year. School specific vacancy postings will become available in March.
Essential Duties
Successful candidates will be required to:
- Deliver the curriculum established by the Henrico County School Board and administration
- Plan daily instructional activities that demonstrate knowledge of subject matter and use state and district approved curriculum
- Use current school and division data to plan instruction
- Develop formative and summative assessments, using multiple tools to assess student learning on an ongoing basis, and to differentiate instruction.
- Maintain order within the classroom and school with proactive classroom management and a well-organized learning environment
- Maintain records of student performance and attendance, and communicate this effectively with students and their parents
- Select and use a variety of instructional materials to stimulate learning and meet the needs of all students
- Coordinate instruction with other staff (special education, gifted, remediation staff, volunteers, etc.) relative to student learning
- Stay abreast of current educational trends and best practices as these relate to classroom instruction and effective schools
- Maintain professional manner when interacting with students, parents, patrons, community agencies and colleagues
- Incorporate and model appropriate use of technology to support instruction and student learning
- Perform other duties as assigned by school administration
Minimum Qualifications
- A minimum of a Bachelor's degree and a valid teaching license in the subject listed above.
- Applicants with relevant college course work and passing Praxis scores are encouraged to apply.
Additional Information
Positions are for the 2025-2026 school year and are 209-day assignments.
Minimum annual starting salary: $55,897 Bachelors, $58,580 Masters, $ 61,329 Doctoral
The annual salary stated in this posting is based on the 2024-2025 adopted financial plan. The annual salary for the coming school year will be determined once the 2025-2026 school year financial plan is approved and adopted in the Spring of 2025.
