OCCUPATIONAL SUMMARY:

Perform general carpentry work in the construction, renovation and repair of Medical Center buildings, additions, and fixtures; install, repair and finish drywall.

WORK PERFORMED: Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned and a more comprehensive task list may be provided.

Perform general carpentry work in the construction, renovation and repair of Medical Center buildings, additions, and fixtures to include floors, roofs, stairways, partitions, doors, windows, and screens from blueprints, sketches, and verbal instructions; install, repair and finish drywall.

Interpret blueprints, plans, sketches and diagrams to properly complete assigned projects.

Operate woodworking equipment and machines to saw, plane, drill and mortise lumber for doors, cabinets, shelves, molding and related items; estimate the amount of required materials and supplies needed for projects; select type of lumber and materials needed.

Inspect work to ensure compliance the applicable codes and procedures; perform any rework or modifications as necessary.

Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.

EDUCATION/TRAINING

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or equivalent combination of education and experience.

EXPERIENCE

Work requires 2 years of experience in construction carpentry to acquire knowledge of the methods and techniques of the carpentry trade.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Valid N.C. Driver's license and a driving history acceptable under the guidelines of the Safe Driving Policy.

COMMUNICATION SKILLS

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively communicate in one-on-one or small group situations with customers, clients, and other employees of the organization. Must respect the privacy of patients and maintain the confidentiality of any patient information related to their treatment. Ability to complete daily records, logs, and time sheets.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and walk. The employee frequently is required to reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel and crouch. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move 50 pounds or more.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may occasionally be exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals. Minimum Qualifications
