General Statement of Duties

The Adult Education Work Based Learning Coordinator/Events Manager combines and coordinates efforts of various individuals, assuring that work based learning experiences effectively and efficiently help adult students develop knowledge, skills, attitudes, and work habits to move successfully into the world of work. The WBL Coordinator will collaborate with Industry Partners, Career Development, Career Advisors, CTE Instructors, GED and ESL instructors, post-secondary institutions, students, and administrators to facilitate opportunities to learn about career options including opportunities such as job/career fairs, internships, apprenticeships, job shadows, paid-work, volunteer service and business tours. They deliver instructional and leadership services to empower adult students with related academic critical thinking, workplace readiness, Career Ready Practices, and technical skills essential to pursuing career pathways. They will also oversee the utilization of space by business partners for educational purposes.

This is a 12-Month or 260- Day assignment with a July 1, 2024, start date.


Essential Duties


The physical demands of this assignment include the ability to sit and stand for extended periods and the ability to lift and move items weighing up to 25 pounds.

Professional Expectations:

  • Review the components and requirements of a work-based learning program.
  • Develop objectives and responsibilities for the program.
  • Develop a system of training, evaluation, and record maintenance.
  • Include student self-knowledge exploration and planning.
  • Design the program to include continued improvement and re-evaluation.
  • Work closely with CTE WBL Coordinators, counselor(s), CTE program instructors, other CTE related specialty teachers, and staff in the planning, development, and evaluation of the program to ensure that decisions are made with equity and inclusion in mind.
  • Effectively use community resources.
  • Establish and maintain a presence among area employers to promote the value in providing work-based learning experiences for adult education students.
  • Maintain a schedule for use of adult education facilities.
  • Maintain good public relations with business and industry partners and any other relevant entities, to generate and grow the work-based learning database opportunities for adults.
  • Set up and maintain WBL opportunities and job listings for adults.
  • Ensure all WBL experiences are documented and reported at the end of the school year.
  • Assist adult students with job search, resume development, and soft skills training.
  • Coordinate goals, action plans, and outcomes for WBL experiences.
  • Other duties as needed.

Minimum Start Salary Rate:

        • $69,538
        • $72,876
