Description

Inspects, estimates, constructs, installs, modifies, repairs and/or replaces various insulation systems, insulation covering and associated accessories, and various fire stopping systems and accessories throughout the district. Removes asbestos containing materials (ACM) and/or encapsulates ACM by means of approved techniques and methods. Navigates Computerized Maintenance Management Software system (AssetWORKS) for trade related work orders, budget targets, etc. and operates and maintains equipment related to the trade.

Pay Rate: $43.48/hourly

THE SELECTION PROCESS: will be job related and will consist of one or more of the following: education and experience evaluation; written, oral or performance tests; or other assessment methods. The Office of Human Resources reserves the right to call only the most qualified candidates to oral and performance examinations. Oral examinations may include written exercises. Selection process component weights will be determined by further analysis of the job.

Qualifications

Education Requirements:

  1. High school diploma or equivalent (GED)

Certifications and Licensing Requirements:

  1. Valid State of Wisconsin Motor Vehicle operator¿s license and availability of properly insured personal vehicle at time of appointment and throughout employment.
  2. Certification in the EPA Asbestos Abatement Training Program (O&M) within 6 months of appointment Note 1
  3. Silica Hazard Awareness Training within first month of appointment. Note 1,2
  4. Scaffolding User and Erector Training Certification within 6 months of appointment. Note 1,2
  5. Fall Protection Competent Person Training Certification within 6 months of appointment. Note 1
  6. Confined Space Entry training within 6 months of appointment. Note 1,2
  7. Preferred ¿ NICET Certification for Fire Alarm Work
  8. Completion of DFMS Maintenance and Repair Staff New Hire EHS Orientation Training Note 2

Note 1 ¿ Training and/or testing will be provided by MPS Employee must obtain the certification within the time allotted.

Note 2 ¿ Training modules assigned on the MPS Learning Management System (LMS).

Experience Requirements:

  1. Minimum of three (3) years¿ experience as an Insulator / ACM Remover at a Journeyman level
  2. Minimum of one (1) year of experience in operating within a Computerized Maintenance Management Software system (preferably in AssetWORKS)
  3. Experience as indicated previously indicated Essential Functions/ Core Competencies.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  1. Ability to perform previously indicated Essential Functions/Core Competencies.
  2. Must have a working knowledge of and skill in;
    1. navigating a Computerized Maintenance Management Software system (preferably in AssetWORKS)
    2. Installing, repairing, maintaining, checking, testing and modifying various insulation and fire stopping systems and associated accessories
    3. Fabrication and layout of insulating materials according to blueprints, plans and shop drawings.
    4. ACM removal techniques following governing rules and regulations
    5. Maintaining tools related to the trade
    6. Computer applications including MS Office software.
    7. Gathering data, compiling information and preparing field reports as required.

Working Environment and Physical Demands:

  1. Ability to wear a respirator as required.
  2. Ability to work mandatory overtime hours as required, whether given advanced notice, or called-in to perform emergency duties
  3. Exposure to dust, dirt, general construction debris, hazardous materials, etc. that may require the use of respiratory protection.
  4. Exposure to loud noises that may require the use of hearing protection devices.
  5. Exposure to confined spaces that may require special rigging, harnessing, etc.
  6. Work at heights on various types of support equipment, including scaffolding, extension and step ladders, etc. that may require special harnessing and fall protection equipment.
  7. Roof work that may require special fall protection equipment, such as personal fall arrest systems (PFAS).
  8. Essential physical requirements, such as climbing, standing, stooping, crawling, etc.
  9. Exposure to work environments as previously indicated.
  10. Ability to climb and work at heights at or above 70 feet in all weather conditions.
  11. Ability to lift objects weighing up to 50 lbs.
  12. Ability to move objects weighing up to 100 lbs.
