The department of Curriculum and Instruction is seeking a Curriculum Specialist IV in Math.


Under general supervision, the Curriculum Specialist IV directs and supports the development & implementation of stated discipline curriculum and instruction system wide from grades K3-12.


The salary range is $95,470.83 - $137,754.13 (12 months/260 days).

Qualifications

  • Hold a current and valid Wisconsin license in Math (license #400)
  • Hold a Master's degree in Educational Leadership or Curriculum and Instruction from an accredited college or university
  • Hold a Director of Instruction license (5010) or ability to obtain within two years is required:
    • NOTE: Applicants that do not currently hold this license or have not completed a certification program awarding this license, may still qualify for the position if they enroll in and complete a certification program awarding the #5010 Director of Instruction within 2 years. Until you complete the certification program, the District will request the license on your behalf upon appointment to the position for a maximum of two years.
  • Be a fully licensed educator with a minimum of five (5) years of successful math teaching experience in a K-12 setting and/or school/district leadership experience.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates the work done in the designated department.
  • Works with teacher leaders and building administrators to coordinate the implementation of the district approved curriculum and best practice instruction in urban education (e.g. differentiation, culturally relevant instruction, and intervention).
  • Works cooperatively to align instruction with other areas including special education, bilingual departments and gifted and talented.
  • Researches best practices in instruction by staying current with the findings of professional organizations.
  • Participates in state organizations and attends appropriate conventions and workshops.
  • Provides appropriate professional development to district instructional leaders to support, classroom instruction and shares curriculum updates.
  • Coordinates and delivers professional development opportunities and training in areas associated with designated department.
  • Monitors student achievement and assists with district data retreats to evaluate the effectiveness of the district curriculum.
  • Makes necessary adjustments in curriculum and instruction to ensure success for all students.
  • Develops and manages the district subject portion of the Curriculum and Instruction Department budget to achieve the goals of the department.
  • Coordinates the alignment of the curriculum for PK-grade 12.
  • Prepares reports to principals, district leadership and board of education regarding district curriculum and instruction as requested.
  • Establishes and maintains partnerships with institutions of higher education and community organizations. Serves as a liaison with the best interests of the district in mind.
  • Works with other managers/directors to meet curriculum and instruction goals.
  • Actively supports the MPS Strategic Plan.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
