General Statement of Duties
This vacancy is for a full-time Maintenance Assistant I. Posting is open until filled.
Minimum annual salary is $31,337.18 ($15.06/hour) or based on HCPS internal promotion policy if applicable. (School-year hours: M-F 7-3:30pm; Summer Hours: M-Th 7-5:30pm)Essential Duties
- Assists in the operation, maintenance, repair, replacement and installation of school property
- Assists in the cleaning, repairing, replacing parts of electrical and wiring devices, heating controls, boilers, plumbing lines and fixtures
- Assists in assigned painting projects
- Assists in repairing, altering or building furniture, glass replacement, carpeting, tile, gutters, roofing and fences
- Performs ground maintenance: mowing, snow-ice removal
- Operates maintenance tools and equipment
- Maintains tools, equipment and supplies in accordance with standards
- Attends work daily and be engaged and on task
- Performs overtime work and other duties as required
Minimum Qualifications
Graduation from high school or trade school. Some knowledge of general maintenance tools and their use; ability to perform routine maintenance and repair tasks with minimum instruction and supervision. Must have valid Virginia Drivers' License and be in good physical condition.
