Are you passionate about unraveling the complexities of cancer treatment? Join our dynamic team at MSK Adult BMT Service, contributing to impactful translational research as a Lead Data Scientist. We're seeking an analytical mind to spearhead the strategic analysis of meta-clinical data and drive our understanding of cellular therapy success and failure. In this role, you will collaborate with senior leaders, clinicians, and front-line staff to provide critical data insights to improve patient outcomes. You Will: 

  • Serve as an analytical thought partner to a team of clinicians. 
  • Work across all levels of the business, establishing collaborative relationships. 
  • Become deeply proficient in operational processes and needs. 
  • Be responsible for problem framing, data collection, and validation, exploratory analysis, statistical modeling, visualization, synthesis, communication, and implementation. 
  • Serve as a subject matter expert and mentor.  

Sample Project: Database Automation and Accessibility

Objective: Automate data extraction from the existing Bone Marrow Transplant (BMT) database, ensuring data quality assurance (QA), and establish accessible data pipelines for operational and research purposes. 

Approach: Develop and implement automated processes for data extraction, perform rigorous QA procedures, and create accessible data formats to facilitate both operational and research-oriented usage. 

Outcome: Improve data accessibility and streamlined data generation pipelines, enabling seamless utilization for operational requirements, and accelerating research endeavors. 

You Have: 

  • 5+years of experience using analytics and data science to impact key business decisions in partnership with non-technical stakeholders
  • Deeply comfortable with relational databases and SQL. Built reproducible analyses using R, Python, or a similar language. Also, proficient in data visualization and creating dashboards using Tableau or a similar tool. 
  • The ability to be a storyteller, synthesize knowledge from various sources, communicate complex topics to non-technical audiences, and provide 
  • Curiosity and self-motivation, thrives when working autonomously.  
  • The Ability to devise innovative analytic approaches for unconventional research problems. 
  • Superb communication skills  

Nice to Have

  • 2+ years of real-world data experience
  • Experience in healthcare data or natural language processing is advantageous. 
  • Knowledge of stem cell transplant or cell therapy.
