Performance Responsibilities:
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the Standards for Mathematical Practice and Standards for Mathematical Content as set forth in the Common Core State Standards for Mathematics
  • Implement required lesson plans and curriculum
  • Possess the ability to assess the mathematical skills of the students
  • Help diagnose reading strengths and weaknesses and match these skills with appropriate techniques and materials
  • Adapt teaching methods and instructional materials to meet students' varying needs and interests
  • Provide individual and small-group instruction for identified students
  • Establish clear learning targets for all lessons, units, and projects, and communicate these targets to students
  • Maintain accurate, complete, and correct student records as required by laws, district policies, and administrative regulations
  • Compile data reports related to student achievement
  • Assist in the evaluation of on-going mathematical programs and make recommendations for change
  • Work with support staff and school administrators to facilitate the coordination of the mathematical program with the total curriculum
  • Be responsible for implementing and monitoring the plan of mathematical instruction. The plan shall address identification, diagnosis and development
  • Participate in grade-level data teams and contribute to the interpretation of data, identification of appropriate instructional strategies, lesson design, and formative assessment design
  • Demonstrate a willingness to participate in district-level curriculum committees
  • Establish and enforce rules for behavior and procedures for maintaining order among students
  • Complete other duties/tasks assigned by the Principal/Turnaround Officer

Qualifications:
  • Certification in secondary mathematics, #029
  • A minimum of five years of highly successful classroom teaching experience as demonstrated by student work/products that reflect standard-setting performances.
  • Demonstrates a commitment to ongoing education/continuing professional development

Salary: Per WTA Contract

Employees appointed to positions in this class must have adequate physical strength, stamina, physical agility and visual and auditory acuity and must maintain such physical fitness as to be able to perform the duties of the class. A physical examination may be required.
