General Statement of Duties
CodeRVA Regional High School seeks a passionate, highly qualified, experienced professional to serve as both teacher and project manager for our school’s work-based learning experiences. Communication skills, both oral and written, must be highly developed to meet the diverse needs of students, professional staff, school division partners and other community agencies. Our highly innovative instructional model will require a flexible educator willing to build individual relationships with a diverse student body with a range of learning needs.
This vacancy is for the 2025-26 School Year.
THIS POSITION IS GRANT-FUNDED for the following school years as part of the VCUxCodeRVA Lab School: 2025-26; 2026-27
Essential Duties
- Plans and facilitates training and learning experiences in Agile project management and software development methodologies.
- Serves as project manager for students in both simulated and authentic work-based learning experiences
- Reviews, revises, and creates curricula and learning resources for work-based learning experiences.
- Collaborates with the Executive Director to create and maintain partnerships, sponsorships, and internships with area businesses and organizations.
- Meets regularly with the Executive Director, Associate Principal, and Leadership Team to support and promote the school’s mission.
- Plans and facilitates events such as Open Houses, Demo Days, Regional Advisory Council meetings, etc.
- Participates in evening student recruitment events with Executive Director and Associate Principal in partner school divisions.
- Collaborates with other staff to integrate computer science content and computational thinking skills within work-based learning experiences.
- Facilitates growth in and monitors, assesses, and evaluates student skills in communication (oral and written), collaboration, and critical thinking.
- Facilitates growth in and monitors, assesses, and evaluates students’ development of industry skills.
- Communicates regularly with stakeholders, including parents, business, and community partners, etc.
- Demonstrates commitment to improving professional competence.
- Maintains order within the instructional setting in accordance with division guidelines regarding student behavior management.
- Supervises students in non-instructional time (before school, after school, student activities, fire drills).
- Ensures compliance with existing applicable federal and state statutes and local policies, regulations and guidelines related to public schools.
- Performs other duties as established by School Board Policy.
- Performs other duties as needed.
Minimum Qualifications
- Applicants must have an active teaching license.
- Experience in teaching or in an enterprise information technology organization is preferred.
- Demonstrated experience with project management or in leadership roles is preferred.
- Prior experience working with students of diverse socioeconomic backgrounds is preferred.
- The ability to speak Spanish is preferred.
Additional Information
This is an 11-month, or 239-day, teaching assignment with a contractual start date of July 1, 2025.
Minimum Starting Pay**:
- $58,323.51 (BA)
- $61,123.20 (MA)
**Salary provided above is based on the 2024-25 compensation rates and may be subject to any FY26 budget adjustments to be approved by the school board later this spring.
