Milwaukee Public Schools is seeking DPI licensed candidates for full-time school library media specialist positions. These positions will provide support to several schools at the elementary and middle school levels.

A Milwaukee Public Schools (MPS) library media specialist facilitates library media or instructional technology programs as aligned to school and district priorities. They promote the use of multiple forms of media to support literacy development and lead students to become effective users of information and technology skills & tools necessary for college and career readiness. A library media specialist oversees the School Library Media Program in accordance with the MPS Information and Technology Strategic Plan. Their work offers an equitable, multi-cultural setting and teaches all children to think deeply, critically and creatively.

Interview panels may request candidates to submit additional items including, but not limited to, letters of recommendation, sample lesson plans, reference lists, and/or writing samples.

At the time of hire, the selected candidate will need to submit three (3) letters of recommendation dated within the last year and manually signed by the author and official transcripts conferring his/her bachelor's degree.

Qualifications

To be considered, applicants must hold a current Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction Library Media Specialist (1902) license, be actively enrolled in a library media specialist certification program, or have the ability to obtain this license during the course of the 2024-25 school year.

Pay, Benefits, & Work Schedule

The Library Media Specialist salary schedule starts at $55,317.33 and increases according to the set salary schedule based on education beyond the required bachelor's degree and previous years of fully-licensed K-12 teaching or library media specialist experience.
