General Statement of Duties

The School Quality Specialist is a division leader who fosters development and growth of the Continuous Improvement Process with a focus on student achievement. In collaboration with school staff, division leadership, and district personnel, the School Quality Specialist supports the district's goals to achieve and maintain full state and federal accreditation for all schools through coaching the Continuous Improvement Process using Improvement Science.

Essential Duties

· Effectively models and supports various processes for gathering, analyzing, and using data for decision-making in the Continuous Improvement Process.

· Supports the alignment, coordination, and delivery of instructional programs based on school need.

· Provides professional learning designed to improve instruction and student performance that are consistent with division initiatives and Improvement Science.

· Participates in USDOE & VDOE workshops and provides follow-up training to school leaders.

· Facilitates support between central office and schools and among central office departments.

· Supports the Division Support Plan process.

· Assists in planning, organizing and monitoring the Continuous Improvement Process.

· Understands and can apply Improvement Science.

· Ensures that School Support plans are focused on the needs identified through the School Needs Assessment process.

· Coaches school staff on best practices of the School Quality Process.

· Collaborates with school staff and other HCPS departments in order to identify, analyze, and assist schools in implementing evidence-based or research-based strategies.

· Attends all VDOE required professional learning with their respective school(s).

· Participates in required VDOE Webinars, if applicable.

· Displays support of district initiatives, curriculum, instructional practices, etc.

· Uses the HCPS Teaching and Learning Framework to support instructional best practices and aligned curriculum through the School Quality Process


Minimum Qualifications

· Evidence of leadership in schools experiencing difficulty meeting state/federal accreditation.

· Evidence of coordinating the School Quality process at a school, district, and/or state level.

· Evidence of current content knowledge and pedagogical skills related to K12 instruction.


Master's Degree in Educational Leadership or related field and an endorsement in administration and supervision required.

Minimum annualized salary - $80,039.90 (The salary for this position will be prorated based upon the official start date).
