General Statement of Duties

This is a 239 day or 11 month assignment

This vacancy is for the coming 2024-25 SY.


The successful candidate will be required to:

  • Plan, organize and deliver instruction to meet individual and group learning needs utilizing state guidelines and division curriculum.
  • Regularly exhibit considerable knowledge of learning theory and best practices.
  • Consistently act in the best interests of students and model appropriate behavior in all professional interactions.

Essential Duties


The physical demands of this assignment include the ability to sit and stand for extended periods and the ability to lift and move items weighing up to 25 pounds.

Professional Expectations:

  • Plans a program of study that meets the individual needs of students
  • Secures and prepares instructional materials in advance and shows written evidence of preparation
  • Assists in the evaluation, selection, and requisition of books, equipment, audio-visuals, and other supplementary materials
  • Implements all curriculum programs adopted system-wide in a positive and efficient manner
  • Participates in curriculum development appropriate to assignment
  • Establishes clear objectives for all learning experiences and communicates these objectives to students
  • Demonstrates the ability to communicate effectively with students
  • Makes use of a variety of resources, materials, and methods to improve the effectiveness of instruction
  • Evaluates pupil accomplishments on a regular basis and provides timely feedback to students/families
  • Develop business and industry partnerships that support program goals
  • Sponsor an active student organization, Skills USA, and support student participate in competitions
  • Confers with colleagues, students, and or parents on a regular basis
  • Takes all necessary precautions to protect and to maintain facilities, equipment, and materials
  • Emphasizes and enforces safety factors within the classroom, building, and throughout school property
  • As an extension of classroom management responsibilities supervises students throughout the school as assigned, or as circumstances require
  • Maintains a disciplined atmosphere appropriate to the teaching environment
  • Establishes reasonable classroom rules with consistent enforcement occurring in a positive way

Minimum Qualifications

  • A valid VA teaching license with an endorsement in Auto Body Technology
  • Eligible for a provisional license; extensive knowledge of auto body painting, refinishing, and collision repair are required
  • ASE certification preferred.


Additional Information

This posting is for the 2024-25 SY. This is a 239 day or 11 month assignment

  • Minimum annual starting salary: $62,440.13 Bachelors, $65,437.40 Masters *

(*The compensation listed above is based on the current 2023-24 SY compensation rates and may be subject to any increases provided in the 2024-25 HCPS school board budget to be released in May.)
