Location: Facilities
Hours: 2:00 pm – 10:30 pm
Position: Year-round (12 Mo); 8 Hours, Mon-Fri
Starting Pay: $23.27/hr to $29.55/hr, depending on experience
Status: Non-Exempt 10
Essential Job Functions:
Under the general direction of the HVAC Lead Person, this position performs preventative maintenance as well as repairs and installations for heating, cooling and ventilation equipment throughout the district’s buildings. Assignments include working on 35 through 70-ton multi-zone rooftop units, 2-ton through 30-ton single zone rooftop units and up to 120-ton split condensing units; repair and/or installs of other related equipment such as heat pumps, humidifiers, cooling towers, boilers, VAV boxes, exhaust fans, air compressors, pumps, unit ventilators, control systems and other related HVAC equipment; repairs smaller residential heating and cooling equipment as well as repairs to ice machines, refrigerators, drinking fountains and mini-split units.
Qualifications:
Must be at least 21 years of age and a high school graduate
Minimum of three to five (3-5) years’ progressive experience in the HVAC fields
Certification in EPA Section 608 Technician Universal Certification Types I, II and III
Demonstrated excellent job performance and attendance
Possess and maintain minimum Missouri Class E driver’s license or equivalent accompanied by an excellent driving record
Able to safely operate a utility work truck
Proficient in the use of all mechanical hand tools, power tools, and HVAC equipment
Possess excellent technical skills and expertise and be proficient in soldering, brazing
Hold certification for handling CFC and HCFC refrigerants
Working knowledge of large building maintenance, equipment and systems
Computer literate and be familiar with word processing and spreadsheet software (prefer Microsoft Office Suite and Google G Suite programs)
Able to follow instructions and be able to read, interpret and understand construction documents, including shop drawings, wiring diagrams, blueprints, technical specifications and contracts
Able to understand and communicate clearly in English - both verbally and in writing - for basic job-related duties and response to safety emergencies as well as follow verbal, written or demonstrated instruction
Able to work overtime and respond to 24-hour on-call emergency service
Able to pass a thorough background investigation
