JOB SUMMARY
We are seeking a Medical Assistant/Ophthalmic Scribe at North Carolina Eye, Ear, Nose and Throat (NCEENT) in Durham, NC (and satellite locations). This position performs varied clerical/clinical duties, assists the physicians and clinical staff in maintaining an efficient and effective clinical operation.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Accompany physician during patient examination. Document examination findings and/or procedures performed by the physician

Place orders as dictated by the physician

Document results of testing and labs as dictated by the physician

Maintain and demonstrate an understanding of the team approach to patient care and documentation

Demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to document patient care as dictated by the physician within the electronic medical record

Assist and direct patients within the clinic setting

Clean and disinfect exam rooms and testing/procedure areas per clinic guidelines

Match records against source documents to verify accuracy of records and compliance with rules and procedures of appropriate system; resolve discrepancies in records by contacting appropriate office to obtain information on source of discrepancy and following through on changing any errors in documentation

Treat all patient information and communication regarding patient care with complete confidentiality and comply with all HIPPA regulations

Assist patient and physician during laser procedures

Perform ancillary testing, including but not limited to Visual Field testing and OCT testing

Travel to Satellite Locations for scheduled shifts

Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein
