General Statement of Duties
This vacancy is for a full-time Maintenance Assistant I. Minimum annual salary is 31,337.18 ($15.06/hour). (Note for the 2023/2024 school year: The salary for this position will be prorated based upon the official start date.)

Essential Duties
- Assists in the operation, maintenance, repair, replacement and installation of school property
- Assists in the cleaning, repairing, replacing parts of electrical and wiring devices, heating controls, boilers, plumbing lines and fixtures
- Assists in assigned painting projects
- Assists in repairing, altering or building furniture, glass replacement, carpeting, tile, gutters, roofing and fences
- Performs ground maintenance: mowing, snow-ice removal
- Operates maintenance tools and equipment
- Maintains tools, equipment and supplies in accordance with standards
- Attends work daily and be engaged and on task
- Performs overtime work and other duties as required
Minimum Qualifications
Graduation from high school or trade school. Some knowledge of general maintenance tools and their use; ability to perform routine maintenance and repair tasks with minimum instruction and supervision. Knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, landscaping and grounds maintenance preferred. Must have valid Virginia drivers' license.
