Description License and Certification Qualifications: Valid Georgia teaching certification required. Social studies certification and/or concentration preferred.

Education Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in related field required. Master's degree in related field preferred

Experience Qualifications: Three years of successful teaching experience required. Experience delivering professional learning opportunities, digital content delivery in eCLASS, and experience working with best practices in social studies preferred.

Skills Qualifications: Ability to organize and complete multiple tasks/projects concurrently; ability to create and deliver professional learning that supports the direction of the social studies program; strong communication skills, both in oral and written format; strong instructional technology skills, knowledge and application of research-based instructional strategies in social studies; ability to work successfully with colleagues; ability to project and generate a positive attitude; and ability to effect change.

Primary Responsibilities: Responsible for professional learning development and delivery, data collection and evaluation, and various tasks that support the development, revision, implementation, and improvement of a cohesive K-12 social studies program for instruction and assessment of the district's social studies Academic Knowledge and Skills (AKS).

1. Provide professionallearning opportunities in support of teaching and learning.
a. Develop professional learning plans consistentwith philosophy, goals, objectives, and needs of the district and the socialstudies program K-12.
b. Implement professional learning through principals,assistant principals, department chairs, and other appropriate personnel.
c. Model effective social studies instructionfocused on civic responsibility for teachers and leaders.

2. Develop curriculum designed to support thesocial studies program.
a. Select, pilot, and implement core socialstudies materials, K-12 to support instruction of the AKS in social studies.
b. Develop lesson plans, intervention, extensions,and assessments for the social studies program, K-12.
c. Collect data from a variety of sources including,but not limited to, local, state, national, international, and standardizedtesting programs to monitor student achievement in social studies.
d. Utilize data to identify strengths and areasof need of student learning in social studies.

3. Support local schools in the district.
a. Provide support for Local School Plans forImprovement (LSPI) as it relates to social studies achievement.
b. Provide support and assistance to principals,assistant principals, department chairs, and other appropriate personnelwho are creating and implementing interventions and extensions for socialstudies AKS.
c. Collaborate with English Language Learners(ELL), Special Education, and Gifted Departments to support the needs ofsocial studies AKS with all students and personnel.

4. Communicate to various internal and externalaudiences concerning program research and information.
a. Interpret district and program philosophy,goals, and objectives to various audiences.
b. Provide information to appropriate personnelregarding current research, knowledge, and trends in social studies education

5. Provide student support.
a. Manage and promote student programs, suchas the Governor's Honors Program, Mock Trial, Model UN, History Day, GeographyBee
b. Model Quality Plus Teaching Strategies inclassrooms as appropriate.
c. Develop student targeted digital resourcesin social studies
d. Promote use of literacy in social studiescontent

6. Provide leadership and support in the promotion,development, and facilitation of transformational instructional practices.
a. Develop and deliver digital content and staffdevelopment to improve classroom instruction.
b. Coordinate district-wide projects centeredaround innovative and research-based instructional practices, such as project-basedlearning, digital learning, and non-traditional classroom environments.
c. Provide social studies instructional supportfor district-provided digital resources.
d. Provide social studies instructional supportfor cross-curricular programs and projects

7. Perform other duties as assigned.

Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit for extended periods of time. The employee is also required to talk, hear, stand, and walk.
