POSITION: Teacher – Summer Special Education ESY Programs (Grant-Funded) INTERNAL APPLICANTS ONLY

ASSIGNMENT(S): Multiple assignments available supporting the following programs:
Summer Regional Programs –
- Middle School Site: Leonardtown Middle School (SAIL)
Summer ESY –
- Virtual and In-Person options site to be determined.
REPORTS TO: Grant/Program Administrator/Special Education Supervisor
NATURE OF WORK:
All summer school positions are temporary. The Summer School Teacher is a professional position with primary responsibility to coordinate and deliver age and grade-level appropriate instruction and assess student learning in various summer school programs, to include in-person, hybrid, and virtual learning environments.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The duties and responsibilities may differ depending on the program and/or school location assigned.
- Plan, deliver, and evaluate specially designed instruction as it relates to student IEP goals and objectives in various forms to include online and virtual instruction;
- Collecting and maintaining student work samples and data as it relates to the IEP goals and objectives;
- Implement student adaptive behavior supports including, when necessary, self-care and hygiene routines (e.g., toileting feeding, etc.);
- Provide guidance to students to promote education development and welfare;
- Provide care and protection of school property;
- Supervise student activity on school property;
- Plan and coordinate the instructional program in accordance with the current curricula.
- Maintain accurate student records;
- Assist students with learning activities;
- Maintain open lines of communications with students, staff and parents;
- Maintain a safe and orderly environment for staff, students, and parents/guardians;
- Effectively manage student behavior;
- Participate in professional development and/or professional meetings as needed; and
- Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Maryland State Department of Education Certification; and
- Experience in teaching is preferred.
TERM OF EMPLOYMENT: This is a temporary/hourly position for the course of the summer, not to exceed September 1 of each fiscal year. There is no guarantee of continuation in this position from one fiscal year to the next.
SALARY: The rate of pay for this position is $40.00/hour for staff holding MSDE certification.
PROJECTED DATES AND HOURS: (In addition to the dates indicated below, compensation may be provided for necessary professional development, planning, recordkeeping, staffing, and/or other programmatic needs.)
Summer Regional Programs –
June 27, 2024 – 3 hours classroom prep
July 1 – 3 - 5 hours a day/3 day a week (1 week)
July 8 – Aug 1 - 5 hours a day/4 day a week (4 weeks)
Summer ESY –
May1-June 27, 2024 – 2 hours PD, planning and prep
July 1 – Aug 1 - Up to 24 hours per week per student assignments
