The Department of Pathology and Laboratory at Memorial Sloan Kettering consists of disease-specific pathologists, molecular diagnosticians, and researchers with expertise in a range of solid tumor types as well as hematopathology.

Our pathologists collaborate with other specialists to customize each patient’s treatment based on their individual diagnosis. Molecular pathology and precision medicine are increasingly vital components of the work we do. Our pathologists use innovative technology and the most-advanced diagnostic techniques available to analyze thousands of samples. We generate more than 170,000 diagnostic reports each year.

Our laboratories are internationally recognized for their innovation in clinical test development. We are currently seeking a Laboratory Supervisor to oversee our Cell Marker Laboratory personnel. The Cell Marker Laboratory provides multi-parameter flow cytometric testing to aid in the diagnosis of hematologic diseases. The Cell Marker Laboratory provides testing for the detection of minimal residual disease and therapy monitoring. The lab also has the ability to sort out specific populations of abnormal cells for downstream testing like cytogenetics and molecular.

You will:

  • Plan, organize and supervise the day to day work of laboratory personnel engaged in performing routine and specialized technical procedures, including planning laboratory work, evaluating work performed and handling procedural and technical laboratory problems to meet the needs of the clinical staff and patients.
  • Monitor Quality Control, Quality Assurance, Safety and Inspection Control practices to assure compliance with internal and external regulations.
  • Ensure smooth workflow, and demonstrate decision-making abilities in all aspects of performance in support of the Department.
  • Project manage and transition new assays or equipment from development into the clinical workflow
  • Evaluate and assess new instrumentation and equipment and provide feedback to manager and laboratory director
  • Help with recruitment and hiring and plan training of new staff

You have:

  • 4+ years of relevant experience (preferably including supervisory experience)
  • A Bachelor's degree (Biology, Chemistry, or Clinical Laboratory Sciences) required
  • Previous operations experience
  • Previous experience working in a flow cytometric laboratory.
  • NYS Clinical Laboratory technologist license required.

Hours of work:

  • Monday to Friday with hours falling between 7am and 8pm (primarily evening shift)
