Special Education Teacher
Position Summary:
The Acton-Boxborough Regional School District, a Prek-12 district, is seeking a skilled and experienced special education teacher to serve within the Learning Centers. The Learning Center Teacher will work in a model of service delivery offering academic support and co-teaching in the general education classroom combined with pull out specialized instruction for small groups and individuals. Students requiring assistance and support have mild to moderate disabilities and cover a range of disabilities.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Plan effective specialized instruction and intervention for students on IEPs within and outside the general education classroom;
  • Administer formal diagnostic assessments and tests for students initially referred and for three-year reevaluations of caseload students;
  • Administer ongoing progress monitoring, strategic monitoring and benchmark systems;
  • Schedule, prepare for, and chair Team meetings for caseload students;
  • Write comprehensive progress reports and IEPs
  • Collaborate with general education and related service staff with respect to appropriate services, accommodations and modifications;
  • Provide ongoing proactive and positive communication with parents;
  • Collect and analyze student data against IEP goals to inform instruction
  • Supervise and plan for educational assistants to support students throughout the day

Qualifications:
  • Master’s degree;
  • Experience/training in language-based instruction/dyslexia including Wilson, O-G, Brain Frames, EmPOWER Writing, etc. highly desirable;
  • Must have a Massachusetts licensure in Moderate Special Needs through the Department of Elementary & Secondary Education;
  • Must have demonstrated success with and be knowledgeable about current research-based interventions for children with disabilities;
  • Must possess demonstrated ability to develop positive behavior intervention plans;
  • Experience/training in language-based instruction/dyslexia including Wilson, O-G, Brain Frames, EmPOWER Writing, etc. highly desirable;
  • Experience with the administration and interpretation of a wide range of formal and informal diagnostic assessment and evaluation tools;
  • Excellent writing and communication skills required
