General Statement of Duties
Closing Date: This position closes on Tuesday, February 18, 2025.
Plans and directs the County traffic programs and coordinates traffic engineering functions with the activities of other agencies and private organizations in matters affecting traffic movement and safety; does related work as required.
Essential Duties
- Extensive knowledge of mathematics and statistics
- Extensive knowledge of the principles of traffic engineering
- Extensive knowledge of the design and operation of traffic signal systems and other control facilities
- Extensive knowledge of the techniques of traffic regulation and control
- Extensive knowledge of the design and utilization of traffic signs and markings and of the use of traffic surveys and the techniques and procedures involved
- Extensive knowledge of the planning of traffic systems and parking facilities
- Ability to plan, organize and supervise a County traffic engineering program and to coordinate the traffic engineering program with related activities of other agencies and of public and private organizations
- Position is required to attend Board of Supervisors Meetings, Planning Commission Meetings, and other Public Meetings
Minimum Qualifications
Possession of a bachelor's degree in civil engineering or a related field; and five (5) years of responsible professional traffic engineering experience; OR, any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Additional Information
A valid professional engineer license (PE License) issued by the Virginia Department of Professional and Occupational Regulation APELSCIDLA Board is required.
Need experience in Public Speaking.
Position is required to attend Board of Supervisors Meetings, Planning Commission Meetings, and other Public Meetings.
