Milwaukee Public Schools is actively recruiting licensed and experienced candidates for paired music teaching positions.

A Milwaukee Public Schools (MPS) is seeking highly motivated and creative individuals to build and implement high quality music education programming. Music educators are part of the vibrant arts community in Milwaukee and have countless opportunities to partner with Milwaukee's professional arts organizations. Educators are supported by the Music Curriculum Specialist and music support teachers in the office of Fine Arts, as well as the Milwaukee Music Educators Association, a growing community of music educators across the district who seek to share best practices and develop a strong and culturally responsive music curriculum.

MPS music educators provide a music curriculum aligned to the Wisconsin Music Standards. In MPS, the teachers and leaders are committed to the vision of high expectations for achievement, equal access to high levels of instruction, the achievement of academic proficiency for all students, and the closing of the achievement gap among subgroups within the schools. A Milwaukee Public Schools (MPS) teacher provides an instructional program for regular and special education students which is appropriate to their educational needs and developmental level. At the time of hire, the selected candidate will need to submit three (3) letters of recommendation dated within the last year and signed by the author and official transcripts conferring his/her undergraduate degree.

Qualifications

As of November 1, 2021, all MPS employees are required to be fully vaccinated. The health and safety of our staff and students is our number one priority. That's why all offers of employment are contingent on the candidate showing proof of being fully vaccinated against COVID-19 (in accordance to current CDC guidelines) to pass the pre-employment requirements. Individuals with medical issues or sincerely held religious beliefs that prevent them from getting the vaccine may request an accommodation from the vaccine requirement.

Eligible applicants include:


External

  • Fully licensed teachers, counselors, or librarians
  • Permit or intern teachers in need of another 1-year license with stipulations for 2024-25
  • Bachelor degreed individuals pursuing a teaching/counseling/librarian position and licensure
  • Student or permit teachers, practicum students, and interns who will be fully licensed (in the respective content area) by applicable date.

Pay, Benefits, & Work Schedule

The teacher salary range starts at $52,827.70 and increases according to the set salary schedule based on education beyond the required bachelor's degree and previous years of fully-licensed K-12 teaching experience.
