General Statement of Duties


This vacancy is for the coming 2024-25 SY.


THIS A HCPS OPPORTUNITY SCHOOL

Starting in the 2023-24 school year, Henrico County Public Schools will designate select schools with high rates of vacant positions and provisionally licensed staff as Opportunity Schools through the HCPS Career Ladder. This is a new pathway within the Career Ladder through which entire schools, selected by HCPS, receive compensation supplements, additional staffing resources and specialized professional learning.

This position is for the 2024-25 school year.

  • Supports student learning through the use of Edgenuity and other digital resources.
  • Use and evaluate instructional materials and resources, including technology, that support the secondary school curriculum.
  • Consistently act in the best interests of students and model appropriate behavior in all professional interactions.

Essential Duties


The physical demands of this assignment include the ability to sit and stand for extended periods and the ability to lift and move items weighing up to 25 pounds.

Professional Expectations:

  • Provides direct support and assistance to site administrators and teachers/facilitators assigned to the online Credit Recovery programs across the school division
  • Reviews teacher updates and site reports on student progress
  • Researches, develops, and disseminates curriculum-driven support materials using new technology resources, emerging technologies, best practices, and professional development opportunities to improve student achievement
  • Collaborates with school personnel and administrators to support the online credit recovery at each program site
  • Collaborates with Coordinators of Assessment and Remediation (CAR) to ensure that the appropriate assessments are administered to students participating in the online credit recovery program
  • Assists in the evaluation and assessment of teachers' technology use and facilitation skills
  • Uses data to design and conduct high-quality professional development; evaluates activities to determine effectiveness
  • Communicates regularly with the Director of Secondary Education, the Department of Technology and Information Services, principals, and other school personnel as needed
  • Monitors the online credit recovery programs and produces reports and updates to the school division
  • Serves as a liaison between schools and the Department of Secondary Education for online credit recovery programming
  • Serves as a liaison between the school division and the online curriculum provider
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

  • Teaching license required.
  • Knowledge of 6-12 curriculum, instructional strategies, and the Standards of Learning.
  • Proficiency with instructional technology strategies, practices, and their relation to effective classroom instruction.
  • Ability to develop and implement technology learning activities for adults.
  • Proficient in a variety of software application or any equivalent combination of experience and training which would provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities

· Minimum annual starting salary: $54,602 Bachelors, $57,223 Masters *

(*The compensation listed above is based on the current 2023-24 SY compensation rates and may be subject to any increases provided in the 2024-25 HCPS school board budget to be released in May.)
