JOB SUMMARY
We are seeking a Patient Service Associate to coordinate and participate in a variety of duties associated with daily clinic preparation process, patient identification, patient check in/out, patient appointment scheduling, and cash management. Position also involves customer service, message distribution, ancillary scheduling, collecting payments on patient accounts and referral management.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Check- in patient upon arrival to the practice. Verify patient demographic data and identify patient using double identifiers. Edit Maestro Care as needed. Accurately identify the appropriate account for the patient visit. Present and educate patients on required forms and obtain signature as required by policy and procedure. Clear all patient edits at time of check in to allow for prompt insurance payment. Collect and post co-payments.
- Check out patients.
- Fix REG errors from DAR daily.
- Answer phones quickly and courteously, professionally to give callers a great first impression of the clinic.
- Schedule and re-schedule appointments for New and return appointments in Epic within the guidelines drafted by the medical providers, check financial assignments regularly to insure patient eligibility, request assistance of management if assistance required.
- Work queues cleared daily.
- Take messages, return calls and provide information to other Duke departments and other ancillary facilities.
- No show list worked daily for each provider/resource.
- Make appointment reminder calls the day before patient appointment.
- In-basket messages cleared daily.
- Other duties as may be requested.
JOB ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
- Work requires knowledge of basic grammar and mathematical principles normally acquired through high school education.
- Minimum of one year of work experience in directly communicating and providing service to patients or public; preferably in a healthcare related field. Experience in effectively coordinating multiple tasks or activities.
JOB HOURS
The schedule for this position is day shifts, Monday-Friday, with no weekends or holidays.
