Plans and supervises general recreation programs or assists in the development and administration of a specialized recreation program on a County-wide basis; does related work as required.

Essential Duties
The employee must have strong knowledge of the philosophy and objectives of community recreation, specifically of recreation programming; exceptional leadership, supervisory, and problem-solving skills required; knowledge and hands-on experience with children in a variety of settings. Must have the ability to work on own initiative without close supervision or guidance, good organizational skills; effective oral and written communication skills.
- Oversee and supervise staff at multiple sites for summer day camp program
- Must have considerable knowledge and hands-on experience with managing staff who are working directly with youth in a variety of settings
- Possess exceptional leadership, supervisory, and problem-solving skills.
- Directly supervises, trains, and works with Recreation Center Coordinators, Instructors, Aides.
- Ability to work independently
- Effective oral and written communication skills
- Assesses and communicates directly with parents/guardians of participants in regard to their behaviors.
- Evaluate program needs to ensure program safety and quality.,
- While representing Henrico County establish and maintain positive and constructive relationships with campers, parents, guardians, staff, program administrators, and facility administrators
- Effectively and accurately complete necessary forms and reports.,
- Position is for employment at summer day camp for June 12, 2024 to August 10, 2024
Minimum Qualifications
Possession of a bachelor's degree in recreation or a field directly related to the needs of the assigned position, and one (1) year of related work experience; OR, any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
