Description License and Certification Qualifications: Valid Georgia teaching certification required. Reading/writing certification and/or concentration preferred

Education Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in related field required. Master's degree in related field preferred.

Experience Qualifications: Three years of successful teaching experience required. Experience delivering professional learning opportunities and experience working with best practices in language arts preferred.

Skills Qualifications: Ability to organize and complete multiple tasks/projects concurrently; ability to create and deliver professional learning that supports the direction of the language arts program; strong communication skills, both in oral and written format; strong technology skills, including the Lotus Notes Database and Microsoft Office Suite programs; knowledge and application of research-based instructional strategies in language arts; ability to work successfully with colleagues; ability to project and generate a positive attitude; and ability to effect change.

Primary Responsibilities: Responsible for professional learning development and delivery, data collection and evaluation, and various tasks that support the development, revision, implementation, and improvement of a cohesive K-12 language arts program for instruction and assessment of the district's language arts Academic Knowledge and Skills (AKS).

1. Provide professional learning opportunities in support of teaching and learning.
a. Develop and facilitate professional learning consistent with philosophy, goals, objectives, and needs of the district and the language arts program K-12.
b. Facilitate professional learning by modeling and coaching with teachers.
c. Demonstrate practical application of research based, learner centered instructional strategies, including the Quality-Plus Instructional Strategies.
d. Implement professional learning through principals, assistant principals, department chairs, course team leads, grade level chairs, cluster vertical teams, and other appropriate personnel.

2. Develop curricular resources designed to support the language arts AKS, K-12.
a. Support the pilot and implementation of language arts instructional resources.
b. Lead the development of instructional resources to include eCLASS course pages, lesson plans, interventions, extensions, and assessments for the language arts program, K-12.
c. Collect data from a variety of sources including, but not limited to, local, state, national, international, and standardized testing programs to monitor student achievement in reading and writing.
d. Effectively analyze and use local school data to lead data talks to impact student achievement in reading and writing.

3. Support local schools in the district using current, research-based pedagogy and strategies.
a. Provide support for Local School Plans for Improvement (LSPI) as the plans relate to reading and writing achievement.
b. Provide support and assistance to principals, assistant principals, department chairs, course team leads, grade level chairs, cluster vertical teams, and other appropriate personnel who are creating and implementing interventions and extensions for the language arts AKS.

4. Communicate to various internal and external audiences concerning current program research and information.
a. Communicate program philosophy, goals, and objectives to various audiences.
b. Provide information to appropriate personnel regarding current research, knowledge, and trends in language arts.

5. Collaborate with other curriculum departments in support of a coherent vision for teaching and learning throughout the district.

6. Cultivate partnerships with local, state, and national leaders in the field (including business and community representatives, Institutions of Higher Education, etc.) to ensure the continued growth of the department.

7. Conduct multiple projects concurrently, both independently and as a member of a collaborative team.

8. Perform other duties as assigned.

Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit for extended periods of time. The employee is also required to talk, hear, stand, and walk. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
