Project Coordinator (NCCTS/T&I) – Psychiatry – Child Division

Position Identification Statement & NCCTS Description:

The National Center for Child Traumatic Stress (NCCTS), co-located at UCLA and Duke University, is the coordinating center for the National Child Traumatic Stress Network (NCTSN). The NCCTS is seeking applicants for the position of Project Coordinator. The NCCTS leads, coordinates, and facilitates national collaborations and initiatives across child servicing systems and multiple topical domains; producing child trauma resources, products, reports, and information for providers, treatment developers, families, and partners. Please note that the NCCTS does not provide direct clinical services to children and families. This position (NCCTS Project Coordinator) currently includes four days of remote work and requires one on-site day per week. The position is located at Duke University in Durham, NC.

NCTSN Description:

The NCTSN is a unique federally funded initiative that seeks to improve the quality, effectiveness, and availability of care and services for children and families who are exposed to a wide range of traumatic experiences, including physical and sexual abuse; domestic, school, and community violence; natural disasters and terrorism; and life-threatening injury and illness. Combining knowledge of child development, expertise in child traumatic stress, and attention to cultural perspectives, the NCTSN supports the development and broad adoption of evidence-based and trauma-informed treatments. The NCTSN is a collaboration of 199 academic, clinical, and community service centers across the U.S.

Position Description:

The NCCTS Project Coordinator is based within the NCCTS Training and Implementation Program (T&I) and reports to the NCCTS T&I Program Director. This position:

  • Documents and monitors completion of action items for T&I Team members, trainers, and implementation teams across multiple projects.
  • Coordinates major aspects of multiple training initiatives, including: participant communication (Learning Management System (LMS) and listservs); contract negotiation and monitoring with vendors; and compiling, consolidating, and editing training material.
  • Communicates and facilitates recommendations to T&I Team members, trainers, and implementation team members for improvements or necessary changes in our processes.
  • Designs, implements, and maintains public-facing documents including: project-specific email updates; meeting minutes; training slides; recruitment information for training participants; training-specific LMS updates; and project-specific newsletter and outreach material.
  • Communicates with multiple Duke entities around branding (e.g. marketing material), procurement, reimbursements, and other tasks as needed.

Position Requirements:

  • Critical thinking, communication, and organizational skills generally acquired through completion of a bachelor's degree program.
  • One or more years of experience in planning, coordinating, and implementing a variety of program activities and events including virtual and in-person.
  • Strong desire to work in collaboration with diverse populations in a team environment.
  • [Preferred experience] Knowledge of, or interest in, a program field related to the NCCTS mission (child trauma, mental health, public health, etc.).
  • Experience and skills in the following:
    • Using critical thinking, logic, and reasoning to identify strengths and weaknesses of various solutions to problems; and
    • Demonstrated ability to recognize program needs and take initiative to address challenges in a team setting.
  • OR an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
