General Statement of Duties
Advance College Academy for Business Administration
Highland Springs High School is seeking a qualified and dedicated Dual Enrollment (DE) Instructor to deliver rigorous and college-equivalent coursework in partnership with Reynolds Community College. The DE Instructor will be responsible for teaching college-level business courses to high school students, ensuring that course content, assessment, and delivery meet the academic standards of Reynolds Community College and the Virginia Community College System (VCCS).
HCPS Opportunity Schools
This is an HCPS Opportunity School. Starting in the 2023-24 school year, Henrico County Public Schools will designate select schools with high rates of vacant positions and provisionally licensed staff as Opportunity Schools through the HCPS Career Ladder. This is a new pathway within the Career Ladder through which entire schools, selected by HCPS, receive compensation supplements, additional staffing resources and specialized professional learning.

The successful candidate will be required to:
- Plan, organize and deliver instruction to meet individual and group learning needs utilizing state guidelines and division curriculum.
- Regularly exhibit considerable knowledge of learning theory and best practices.
- Consistently act in the best interests of students and model appropriate behavior in all professional interactions.
Essential Duties
The physical demands of this assignment include the ability to sit and stand for extended periods and the ability to lift and move items weighing up to 25 pounds.
Professional Expectations:
- Deliver college-level instruction that is academically equivalent to business courses offered on Reynolds Community College campuses.
- Maintain alignment with the approved course learning outcomes, textbooks, materials, and assignments as outlined by Reynolds and Highland Springs.
- Participate in at least one Reynolds adjunct convocation and discipline-specific professional development each academic year.
- Complete discipline-specific training with program head/faculty liaison prior to teaching any DE course (for new instructors).
- Submit all syllabi for review and approval before the course start date, and upload approved syllabi to SharePoint within the first week of classes.
- Submit final exams and attendance reports to SharePoint at the end of each semester.
- Ensure timely submission of final grades through the SIS system by 12 noon, 24 hours after the course concludes.
- Regularly check and respond to communications via Reynolds Outlook email or forward messages to Henrico email account.
- Support student success by ensuring course evaluations are completed by students each semester.
- Permit observations by Reynolds program heads, liaisons, or faculty for academic oversight and engage in post-observation discussions regarding instructional performance.
- Maintain up-to-date course materials, assignments, and grades on Canvas or a designated learning management system (LMS), and provide view-only access to Reynolds representatives by the course start date.
- Seek technical and academic assistance when needed from Reynolds Help Desk, faculty liaisons, program heads, or the DE office.
- Uphold academic integrity and ensure instructional rigor consistent with college standards.
Minimum Qualifications
Required
- Teaching license in the above-mentioned curriculum is required.
- Applicants with a Master's degree, relevant college coursework, and passing Praxis test scores are encouraged to apply
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's degree in business and/or related areas, such as Accounting, or a master’s degree with 18 graduate credit hours in the discipline being taught.
- Prior experience teaching at the college or high school level.
- Familiarity with learning management systems such as Canvas or equivalent.
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Commitment to fostering a challenging and supportive learning environment.
Additional Information
This posting is for the 2025-26 SY with an August 11, 2025 contractual start date. **The annual salary stated in this posting is based on the 2024-2025 adopted financial plan. The annual salary, for the 2025-2026 school year, will be determined once the 2025-2026 school year financial plan is approved and adopted in the Spring of 2025.
This assignment will be accompanied by a $3,500 HCPS Opportunity School stipend.
Minimum annual starting salary:
- $55,897.48 (Bachelors)
- $58,580.71 (Masters)
