Job Description Summary

The incumbent will assist the Principal Investigator in the recruitment of research participants, the collection of psychological and physiological research data, and data entry and organizational tasks for the studies being conducted. The candidate will be involved directly in the collection of questionnaire, interview, laboratory and other research data. The candidate will also conduct basic laboratory experiments focused on searching for immune dysfunction in posttraumatic stress disorder condition.

Job Description

FLSA: Hourly

Work Schedule: M-F, 8:30AM - 5:00PM

Job Duties:

  • 35% - Screening and recruiting of subjects and healthy volunteers; Scheduling and running subjects, raters and procedures; and Administration of questionnaires.    
  • 25% - Data entry and scoring in a computerized database, Preparing and maintaining study binders and ensuring that regulatory procedure are followed.
  • 25% - Perform experimental work involving preparing chemical solution, mapping cytokines from human blood or other tissue. Maintain laboratory Equipment.
  • 15% - Collect and transfer databases for statistical analysis, perform assigned statistical analysis of data. Perform daily laboratory maintenance activities.

Additional Job Description

Minimum Requirements: A high school diploma and two years journey-level technical experience in a related laboratory setting. A bachelor's degree in a related scientific discipline may be substituted for the required work experience.

(Infrequent) Ability to lift and carry objects up to 30 lbs. a distance of five (5) floors and to outlying buildings. (Frequent) Ability to maintain 20/40 vision, corrected. (Continuous) Ability to see and recognize objects close at hand. (Continuous) Ability to see and recognize objects at a distance. (Continuous) Ability to match or discriminate between colors. (Continuous) Ability to determine distance/relationship between objects; depth perception. (Continuous) Good peripheral vision capabilities. (Continuous) Ability to maintain hearing acuity, with correction. (Continuous) Ability to perform gross motor functions with frequent fine motor movements. (Continuous) Ability to be qualified physically (by medical personnel) for respirator use, initially and annually. Ability to work alone in isolated areas, such as darkrooms. (Frequent) Additional New Requirements: Ability to obtain and maintain a valid drivers license. Computer literacy. Ability to work rotating shifts as required. Ability to work overtime as required. Ability to learn and use new processes, tools and equipment as required.
