Job Description
The Interpreter reports to the Coordinator, Interpreter Services. Under indirect supervision, the Interpreter facilitates a communication bridge for the Spanish speaking patient population and the health care provider and support staff. This position provides language interpreting services for any patient care issue (serving all patients)) at the Medical University Hospital Authority.
The Interpreter provides oral interpreting written translation from the Spanish language to English and vice versa. The Interpreter effectively identifies cultural differences and assists employees in understanding cultural differences and how language barriers may impact patient care.
Additional Job Description
High school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor’s degree preferred. Excellent written and oral English and Spanish and/or Portuguese language skills required; other language proficiencies preferred. The ability to provide written translation from the Spanish or Portuguese language to English and vice versa required. Experience as a medical interpreter preferred.
This position utilizes rotating shifts and hours to accommodate peak demands.
