Job Description Summary
The Specialty Clinical Pharmacist provides distributive and clinical pharmacy services to the outpatients and visitors of the Medical University Hospital and Clinics. Additional responsibilities include addressing the needs of nursing and medical personnel regarding drug disposition and usage; counsels patients and health care professionals by providing general and patient specific drug information; ensures timely and medically appropriate dispensing. The Clinical Pharmacist participates in the patient management and quality programs of the Specialty Pharmacy.Entity

Job Description
To provide pharmaceutical care in order to optimize patient outcomes. To collaborate with others to improve systems of care. Responds to questions from patients about medications and dosage instructions. Ensures that all required pharmacy data is recorded and maintained and complies with all regulatory, security and hospital procedures.
Additional Job Description
Minimum Training and Education: Doctor of Pharmacy degree and completion of pharmacy residency program; two years of clinical or hospital pharmacy experience may substitute for the clinical pharmacy residency program. Eligibility for licensure as a Pharmacist by the South Carolina Board of Pharmacy.
Required Licensure, Certifications, Registrations: Current Basic Life Support (BLS) required, either a certification from an American Heart Association (AHA) BLS for Healthcare Providers (or AHA recognized equivalent) or an American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider.
