Job Description

Job Roles and Responsibilities:

Conduct data analyses that range from simple descriptive statistics to highly complex algorithms.  (30%) This role involves performing a wide range of statistical analyses, from basic calculations like means and medians to complex techniques like machine learning algorithms. You'll be responsible for understanding the research questions and selecting the appropriate analytical methods to extract meaningful insights from the data. This might involve using specialized software packages like R, Python, or SAS to conduct the analyses.

Apply statistical (descriptive, analytical, inferential) analysis and data mining techniques to generate real-world evidence and prediction systems (30%).  This responsibility focuses on applying various statistical techniques, including descriptive, analytical, and inferential methods, to analyze large datasets related to cancer research. You'll utilize data mining techniques to identify patterns and trends within the data and use these insights to develop real-world evidence and potentially build predictive models for cancer outcomes.

Integrate and analyze large, diverse oncology/healthcare datasets and communicate the results of large-scale analytics. (25%) You'll be responsible for working with diverse and complex datasets related to oncology and healthcare, potentially obtained from various sources like clinical trials, electronic health records, or public databases. This involves integrating these datasets, ensuring data quality and consistency, and then performing comprehensive statistical analyses to extract valuable information relevant to cancer research.

Ensures the integrity of databases used in analyses through the development of essential data cleaning and checks, and data back-ups. (10%) This role emphasizes maintaining the accuracy and reliability of the data used in analyses. You'll be responsible for developing and implementing data cleaning procedures to identify and correct errors or inconsistencies within the datasets. Additionally, you'll establish data quality checks and implement data backup systems to ensure the integrity and security of the information used for research purposes.

Design experiments, test hypotheses, and build analytical models to explore, explain, and predict health-related outcomes (5%) While this responsibility occupies a smaller portion of the role, it involves actively contributing to the research process by designing experiments, formulating hypotheses, and building analytical models.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Required Education: Master’s degree in Data Science, Biostatistics, Epidemiology, Mathematics, Health Economics, Computer Science, Business Analytics, Informatics, or related field OR Doctorate (Ph.D.) in Data Science, Biostatistics, Epidemiology, Mathematics, Health Economics, Computer Science, Business Analytics, Informatics, or related field
  • Experience working with healthcare data
  • Required Software and tools: Microsoft Office, SQL, Statistical programming tools (such as R, Python, or SAS)
  • Proficiency in using SQL to query large, complex datasets
  • Knowledge of statistical techniques, including statistical analysis, quantitative analytics, predictive analytics, and multivariate testing
  • Strong programming, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Experience creating dashboards and visualizations with Tableau or PowerBI is a plus
