Job Summary: The Division of Global and Community Health in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant Professor level. Applicants should have an interest in innovative research and novel approaches to infectious disease surveillance and community-level mitigation and prevention interventions.


Additional areas of interest include: (1) novel monitoring and surveillance strategies of emerging infectious disease threats, (2) integrated community preparedness strategies that partner front-line responders, laboratorians, disease detectives, emergency managers, and health professionals, (3) strategies to enhance resilience to assist communities in coping with mental health, economic, and educational needs that result from infectious disease disruptions, (4) testing strategies for creating partnerships between communities and the health system to foster trust and collaboration, (5) community mobilization interventions to enhance vaccine uptake, adoption of prevention behaviors, and health messaging to avoid politicization of threats and interventions, and (6) researching use of novel means of community mobilization such as social media and tele-health platforms during health emergencies.

Minimum Requirements: Must have a terminal degree: Ph.D, M.D., or related degree in fields such as Psychology, Public Health, Sociology, Anthropology, or other relevant social / behavioral discipline.

Additional New Requirements: Ability to obtain and maintain a valid drivers license. Computer literacy. Ability to work rotating shifts as required. Ability to work overtime as required. Ability to learn and use new processes, tools and equipment as required.
