Job Description

Minimum Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent. Advanced degree preferred. Five (5) years’ experience in a referral development or marketing position required. Experience in diverse healthcare settings desired. Proficient in Microsoft Office, strong project management, organizational, attention to detail, analytical, verbal and written communication and presentation skills. Able to work independently with minimal supervision.

Work Environment:

Works in an office setting with often travel and varying work schedule. Must have a valid driver’s license and possess the ability to travel.

Essential Functions:

Develops a referral development plan that promotes the departments’ services in the market area and increases the departments’ volumes. Establishes relationships with referrals through regular contact. Facilitates in-services/presentations to new and existing referral sources. Establishes effective physician relationships to obtain referrals as well as educates physicians on hospital services. Maintains detailed call logs, referral development activity logs, and appropriate follow up logs. Prepares required reports and paperwork appropriately and on time. Interacts with team members to ensure a positive customer service experience. Meets with families and patients to collect data, answer questions and facilitate admissions. Works with insurance companies to obtain pre-authorization for patients. Interacts with diverse healthcare providers to ensure comprehensive market coverage. Collects and distributes data to physicians and facilities after the patient is discharged to show their progress to help build future referrals. Works with Community Outreach and Marketing Directors on community events.

In order to perform the essential functions of this position, you must be able to stand, walk, use hands, reach, talk and hear; lift or exert energy up to 10 pounds 25 % of the time, Up to 25 pounds 25% of the time and up to 100 pounds 50% of the time; close vision.

Able to read and interpret business or safety manuals, clinical or technical procedures or

regulations; write reports, correspondence and/or manuals; effectively present information and respond to questions from groups, patients, families, other employees, and medical staff; possess the ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form; deal with problems involving concrete variables and standardized situations.

Age Competencies:

This position primarily interacts with adult age groups. All staff members must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skill necessary to meet the physical, psycho/social, educational, safety, and related needs of the persons in the assigned work area.
